12th of August Celebrations

We had an extremely memorable first anniversary on August 12th! Don't think we'll be able to top being in Switzerland on our anniversary... oh my! It's crazy to think a year has passed and we can't decide whether it has felt long or short. Sometimes it feels like we were JUST planning for our wedding and feeling quite uncertain about our immediate future. Then, when we look back at the ways God has graciously carried us through many milestones this year, it feels like a lot has happened in one year! One thing is for certain, glory to God!

Our day began with breakfast, a walk and an early afternoon panoramic train from Montreaux to Interlaken. The "Golden Pass" train had massive windows and windows in the roof too! The views were incredible. We ate lunch on the train, which we are embarrassed to say was McDonalds (you've gotta do what you've gotta do in pricey Switzerland haha).

After checking into our hostel in Interlaken, we received fantastic advice from the front desk (they were super excited it was our anniversary), showered and walked out of our hostel looking fancy shmancy (opposite of most hostel regulars, including ourselves, so walking out was kind of entertaining with the looks we got). We went to the Schuh chocolatier show, poked around in some touristy Swiss shops, had dinner in a panoramic restaurant at sunset and finished the night with tea and heart shaped brownies from Schuh. Like I said, the activities and locations of this anniversary will be hard to top haha. Here are our pictures (and some chocolate comments from Andy who couldn't get enough of the free tastings)...

Andy: Julia and I love chocolate and nobody makes better chocolate than the Swiss, so we were all over that (mainly for the 8 frank voucher and all you can eat chocolate at the show). It also turned out to be very interesting as we learned that the secret to Swiss chocolate is that they mix the ingredients in a special machine for about three times longer than most chocolate makers. The chocolate there was incredible, and Julia even got to have strawberries dipped in chocolate! It was our best anniversary yet!

Andy, I love you!

- Julia
