Meet Switzerland

We were introduced to Switzerland in the city of Montreaux. We only stayed one night here before moving on to Interlaken for three nights and finishing in Luzern for one night. However, our time in Montreaux was a great starter to prepare us for the magnificent Alps. From the minute we stepped off the train, we were already SO excited!

Our train had passed many bright, emerald lakes with sailboats, rowing teams (thought of you, Care!), water sports, kayak tours, etc. All of this with mountainous backdrops. Once out of the train station, we headed straight to the lake and I had a picture taking HAYDAY because of all th gorgeous gardens by the lake and surrounding mountains! Here are some pictures as we made our way from the station to our hostel...

That night we ate an affordable dinner at our hostel (Switzerland is an expensive place to do just about anything!) before heading out for an evening/sunset walk. The Chillon Castle is a well known symbol and tourist attraction for Switzerland. It was built in the 12th century, lived in for centuries by dukes and, to me, looks like a real, classic Medieval castle! We didn't do the tour, but enjoyed walking around its grounds and taking pictures of it at dusk and sunset. Already, Switzerland is one of our favourite countries!
