Cinque Terre Coastline

This was our last stop in Italy... and it sure was a fantastic one! Cinque Terre is the Italian name for five cities (more like villages) that are all within 10 km on the Mediterranean coastline of North-Western Italy. We stayed in a rental flat in one of these five Cinque Terre villages, Riogammorie, population of -- people. I just couldn't get enough of the typical Italian streets and loved sitting on this window ledge, just watching tourists walk by and locals interact. I noticed an elderly Italian woman across the street, enjoying the same pasttime by peaking through her laundry to the passerbys below.

We arrived in the late afternoon, having visited the Leaning Tower that morning. Although tired from traveling, we were so excited to explore the little town and see the rugged coastline! So, we wandered down to the tiny harbour and then made our way to the local beach (made up of rocks the size of soccer balls haha, it was an experience getting in and out of the water, but exhilerating to be in the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean).

After showering from our time in the sea, Andy went out to get take out pizza and we enjoyed a delightful dinner together in our flat. Then we walked back down the the harbour in search of the best spot to view a sunset. There were many tourists gathering in the harbour area, but we decided to climb up super narrow, steep steps, though local apartments, until we reached a small balcony with a steep path down to a rocky point. It was perfect and no one was there! In fact, when we climbed back up afterwards, a local of over forty years congragulated us on finding "the best sunset spot in the village". We had it all to ourselves! It was such a blessing from the Lord to share the romantic setting together. I just love sunsets because each one is so unique and such an awe-inspiring display of God's glory!
