Trains

We like trains. They are easy and reliable. Instead of arriving at an airport at least two hours before the flight leaves, going through customs, parting with our baggage, being delayed, boarding in order, etc... we just get on the train and go! Europe has a fantastic train system.

Our Eurail pass has also been very user friendly. We purchased the "15 days in 2 months" Global Youth Pass, which means we can use the days at any time over the course of two months. We will be using all 15 and have done 3 so far (Brugge to Amsterdam, to Berlin, to Prague). We don't have to buy tickets each time before boarding, we just have to write the date of travel on our Eurail pass for the ticket master to stamp.

On the train, Andy often begins with a nap while I pull out the IPAD (which has been an amazing tool... thank you to those who helped us win it!!) to check what we're doing in the next city, look at maps to our next hostel, load some pictures and do some blogging.

Here's a picture of Andy on the first train we did with our Eurail pass! We accidentally sat in first class... the ticket guy knew it was a mistake so just let us stay there this time!
