Vienna

Our time in Vienna makes me think of many cobblestone streets for walkers, laughter, cafe's and opera! Despite it being quite a rainy day, we had fun together. We were both in quite silly moods, thanks to the past two nights of overnight train sleeps, so this ensued many uncontrollable laughter bouts.

No idea what building this is, but Andy decided to pose in front of it and right before I snapped the picture, he burst into a ridiculous pose that sent us howling... oh dear, we were tired!

Cafe Centrale - We had a very light lunch here (it was pricey!). This beautiful place was frequented by chess games between Freud, Lenin and Trotsky.

Wandering cobblestone streets - The buildings are all so beautiful and well kept. We stopped in at St. Stephen's cathedral to take some pictures.

When the rain picked up, we went to a cafe for tea and a more substantial lunch. Delish! Afterwards, we made our way to the Austrian Parliament buildings and did a little self tour. Andy loved it... he is into all the history details.

After an interesting day, poking around Vienna in the rain, we made a last minute decision to go to a Mozart Orchestra at the famous Opera House! We quickly walked back to our hostel, stopped in at a grocery store and picked up dinner for 0.79 euro!! It was a frozen pizza big nough for us to share PLUS our hostel gave us each a welcome drink. We were very excited by this win of a dinner!

The Mozart tribute was worth it! Quick story behind our tickets: we originally were not going to see the concert because it was 49euros per person!! But we did inquire and found out that students (Andy) get 50% off AND that there are standing room only tickets for 25 euros. So we purchased on of each, Andy insisting that he would be the one to stand. When we got there, Andy took me to my seat on the top level and when he explained to the usher his ticket and that he was dropping me off, the usher allowed hi. To sit in the empty seat next to me!! Hooray! Another blessing from the Lord that we were not expecting.

The opera house in Vienna is just exquisite! It was amazing to have the opportunity to enjoy such beautiful music in such a beautiful European venue. Part of the performance is that the musicians dress up in 19th century costumes to bring us back in time. We sat next to a wonderful, older couple from Israel... they were so excited for our travels and actually shared some interesting insights on marriage with us.

Here are some pictures from the evening... It was a crescendo to our time in Vienna! Ha.
